Elmwood Location Location is not only important when selling a house, it is also important when deciding where you want to live. Elmwood is ideally located between Lincoln and Omaha which provides more job opportunities than living in one city or the other.
The People Elmwood has a population of over 600 people which includes not only those in the village but the surrounding farms as well. The townspeople are a mixture of people who have lived here forever with family roots that run deep and new people who are looking for the small town atmosphere.
The Schools The Elmwood-Murdock schools offer a great sports program which routinely sends teams to the State competitions and recently won the State championship in boys basketball. Sports are very important to the community and the pride in the teams is evident in the turn out at the games.
The Infrastructure Elmwood infrastructure also provides the cleanest water in the state. The streets of Elmwood are concrete and asphalt with city snow removal service that is quick and responsive. Home heating options available are natural gas and electric. For high tech services Elmwood has several internet options available including DSL, cable, and wireless.
The Business Elmwood offers several businesses that are the most successful in the state and some are known nationwide. Elmwood has potential to support more businesses from factories, entertainment, or sales.
Recreation Elmwood has a scenic bike path passing along the edge of town. It meanders among the trees and Weeping Water creek and at times you will see beaver dams. It extends from Wabash through Elmwood then Eagle and on to Lincoln. The Elmwood Park has covered picnic areas, modern playground equipment,
Bess Streeter Aldrich Museum Bess Streeter Aldrich was one of Nebraska's most widely read and enjoyed authors. Her writing career spanned forty-some years, during which she published over 160 short stories and articles, nine novels, one novella, two books of short stories, and one omnibus. In her work, she emphasized family values and recorded accurately Midwest pioneering history.
Elmwood Volunteer Fire Department The Elmwood Volunteer Fire Department was organized May 16, 1899 as a village fire department. The Fire Department has several old record books that date back to 1922. These records contain monthly business entries during the last eighty years; some of the records are barely legible. At most meetings people kept a roll call of firemen present at the Firemen's monthly meetings.

Auditions for Fall Farce at the Lofte

The Lofte Community Theatre will be holding auditions for its fall comedy, "Unnecessary Farce," on Monday, September 6 and Tuesday, September 7 at 7pm. No advance preparation is necessary. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Written by Paul Slade Smith, "Unnecessary Farce" is a fast-paced, high energy comedy. An embezzling mayor is trying to schedule a rendezvous with his beautiful assistant. Throw in a couple of undercover cops, a hit man and various other over-the-top characters and you have the recipe for fun.

Artistic Director Kevin Colbert is looking for four men and three women of various ages. Performance dates are Oct 15-17, 22-24, 28-31. Questions about the audition or the production itself may be directed to Kevin Colbert at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. FIDDLING BEE!
Greenblatt & Seay proudly announce the FOURTEENTH ANNUAL SCHOOLHOUSE FIDDLING BEE. This historical, hysterical event will take place on Sunday, October 10, at 2:30 PM, in the auditorium of the Old Avoca, Nebraska Schoolhouse. In the Open Division, fiddlers will play a hoedown, a waltz, and a tune of choice. There will also be other divisions of competition available for the adventurous fiddlers, including a Singing Fiddler's Contest, a Twin Fiddler's Contest, a Fee-Fi-Faux Fiddler's Contest (fiddle tunes played on any instrument other than a fiddle), and a Hocus-Pocus Contest (cross-tuning, sound effects, dancing, etc.), which will give fiddlers an opportunity to play tunes that are usually not allowed in any other contest. The prizes for the winners in the Open Division are $100 for 1st place, $50 for 2nd place, and $25 for 3rd place. Prizes will also be awarded for 1st place in the other contests. Registration for contestants starts at 1:30 PM the day of the FIDDLING BEE. Admission is $5.00 for adults and $1.00 for children. Fiddlers and their back-ups are admitted for free. Ben

Hi!  This is Ben Willey.

It's time again to raise money for the Down Syndrome Association for Families of Nebraska (D.S.A.F.)  with the newly named StepUp for Down Syndrome  Walk on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Antelope Park in Lincoln.

How can you help? Many different ways!  You can donate by credit card on-line by going to Ben's Brigade team page here.   You can donate by check made payable to DSAF of NE and send it to The Willey Family at 819 274th Street, Elmwood NE 68349.  Our goal this year is to raise $1,000, so any amount will help.  But the best way to show your support, is to register  and come walk with us on our team Ben's Brigade.  My family would love to see you there!  To register, click here. Be sure to register by September 3rd to get a free T-shirt with your paid registration!

The D.S.A.F of Nebraska  has given Mom and Dad a lot of helpful information and support through my first 2 years of life! This is our ONE and ONLY fund-raiser and the money raised from the StepUp  Walk will pay for information for parents and educators, programs for families impacted by Down Syndrome, fun outings for my family, and much more!

The walk is 1 mile around the Children's Zoo but there will be so much more than just the walk!    I know they have a lot of fun stuff planned for the kids! Here is a link to the StepUP page on the DSAF website.
Don't forget your donations are 100% tax deductible.

Let's make this walk a successful one!

Thanks for reading. Thanks for donating. Thanks for loving me for me!
Love,

Ben
Randy, Angie, John and Noah Willey
