Bubble Soccer 2017
If you drove past the park on Sunday you may have seen a little bit of activity. Hopefully, you stopped, because the Elmwood Volunteer Rescue Squad had their 3rd Annual Bubble Soccer tournament. Teams entered for the right to knock each other over and have a little fun at the same time. If you missed it here is a little video to show what you missed.
Thank you to the corporate sponsors for their support, it is greatly appreciated. The list is long, you know who you were and were recognized during the tournament. The lunch was delicious, thank you to Linda Blunt and everyone who helped out and in the words of Linda... "It is a beautiful day in the park"
Below is a photo of the winning team, the "B Team" more power to you as I don't think I would have the energy. Once I got upside down, that is where I would stay.
No Elmwood event, especially in the park, would be complete without a selfie with Julie Anderson. By the way, updates on the new park design will be coming. I got a sneak peak and it's going to be great.
The next event for the Elmwood Rescue Squad is the arrival of the Waffleman
October 8th at the Firehall from 8am -Noon
Harvest Moon Race Information
Friday Night September 15th
Many of you may have received a letter on your door today informing you of the details of the Harvest Moon Hustle. I think they delivered to everyone on the route that the runners will take. I'm posting a copy so that everyone can see what will be happening next Friday night (September 15th).
This is a great event and Elmwood is excited to have it here for the 6th year. Runners will rill run 6.2 miles on the mostly on the MoPac Trail. This is a great spectator event. Over 1,300 runners from 10 states will participate in the event.
They have grown from 300 runners to 1,300 runners! Check out the letter and the map of the route. I'd like to thank everyone who has volunteered to help and encourage anyone who feels like cheering to line the route and cheer on the runners!
We are needing some volunteers to help at the Harvest Moon Hustle after party
https://www.eventbrite.com/e/2017-harvest-moon-hustle-race-day-volunteers-tickets-35547546669
Friday, September 15th from 6:00 to 11:00.pm
We will be working at the Elmwood Fire Barn making sure people know where they are going, keeping the tables cleaned up, taking tickets, and whatever else needs to be done.
I did it last year and had a blast! You get to meet a ton of really fun people who have just finished running a long race and are grateful to have a place to sit and relax. There is a band playing so plenty of great tunes and you get dinner before it starts!
And the totally awesome part is that the Harvest Moon Hustle group will make a $400 donation to our park for providing volunteers.
That is what I like to call EASY MONEY! If you are interested let Julie Anderson know or go to the website, click on the register button, and sign up to be a volunteer for the after party.
It will look like you are signing up to be in the race but no worries, it is already full. You are just signing up to be a volunteer. You will have a blast!!

Elmwood-Murdock Football
The Wilber-Clatonia Wolverines defeated the Elmwood-Murdock Knights 29-0 last Friday night in Elmwood.
The Wolverines are the defending state champions and entered the contest ranked #5 in C-2. Wilber-Clatonia has a solid football team. They are athletic and have good team speed. Our goal was to make them earn everything and not give up the big play. Other than a turnover in the 1st quarter and a long pass late in the 4th quarter the Knights were able to slow done Wilber-Clatonia throughout the 2nd and 3rd quarters. We had a couple nice drives on offense but could not get the big play we needed. Credit Wilber-Clatonia. They play off blocks well and it was difficult to get to the perimeter.
We had a couple seams open up but they closed quickly.
The Knights travel to Palmyra Friday night. Game time is 7:00 p.m.If you can't make it to the game watch it LIVE STREAMING on the Elmwood-Murdock Striv Channel.
Every varsity home football and volleyball game can be watched anywhere in the world. So tell your family, friends, and alumni.
Past games can be watched "on demand" at Jim Rusts' Vimeo channel.

10:00 am - 3:00 pm
The Spirit Squad will be volunteering this year for the Market to Market race as it comes through South Bend, Murdock, and Elmwood.
The race comes to town on Saturday, September 30th, and will bring several thousand people into Elmwood all day and it's a great opportunity to show Elmwood pride and hospitality. This is the 5th or 6th year but everyone always seems to be a surprise when the traffic increases that day.
This year it is on Saturday, Sept 30th - we will likely see runners coming and a lot of vehicle traffic starting around 10 am with it peaking at about 3:00 pm

Husker Fans Salute the Troops 2017
Husker Fans Salute the Troops 2017 – The mission is to salute Nebraska Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines: active duty, national guard, reserve, retired and veterans, to say “Thank you for your service to our Nation” so they know the Husker Nation will never forget their sacrifice and dedication.
This is an unprecedented event in the history of military support to the Armed Forces. This weekend hosts troops and their families from all services, of all ranks, to come together and cheer on their team as they play Purdue on October 28th, 2017.
This weekend is more than just a watch party, though. It is a chance for these servicemen and women to be treated like the heroes they are with an all access, private tour of Memorial Stadium and a brunch in their honor.
2017 marks the tenth year for this event. 2008 was the first year held during the OU game and attended by about 70 troopers and their families. Since then we have had to limit our attendance as it has grown to nearly 500 attendees. Each year we try to improve the troopers experience and being our tenth year we are expecting this to be the best.
Registration for the 10th annual Husker Fans Salute the Troops is now open to first-time attendees --http://www.huskersalute.org/.
We are currently serving hard ice cream in dishes.
