NATIONAL POINSETTIA DAY. Did you know that the poinsettia has a special day all its own? By an Act of Congress, December 12 was set aside as National Poinsettia Day. The date marks the death of Joel Roberts Poinsett, who is credited with introducing the native Mexican plant to the United States. The purpose of the day is to enjoy the beauty of this popular holiday plant. Be sure to give someone you love a poinsettia on December 12th!

From the Editor: In order to make the newsletter “news worthy” I will need community support by forwarding items/events of community interest or suggestions of things you’d like to see in the newsletter. Newsletter contributions must be positive, in good taste, and focus on our community, people, or events. Event information you’d like published must be accurate, concise, and inclusive of dates, times, places, etc. Seasonal articles of interest and whimsical stories may also be included. The newsletter will be published monthly, or until such time that the volume of information warrants more frequent publication. Please send information to the following email address any time during the month, but no later than the last Friday of each month to make the following month’s newsletter: Editor@ElmwoodNebraska.com

I hope you all have a safe holiday season.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
