Auditions
at Lofte Theatre
The Lofte
Community Theatre near Manley will be holding auditions for its summer musical,
"Crazy For You" on Sunday, May 10th and Monday, May 11th at 7:00PM.
The production will run weekends between July 17 and August 2.
First
premiering in 1992, "Crazy For You" is considered to be "the new
Gershwin musical." The script is loosely based off of the 1930 show,
"Girl Crazy" and the score is made up of Gershwin tunes from
the era including, "I Got Rhythm," and "Someone to Watch Over
Me."
Those
interested in auditioning should bring a prepared piece of music and
expect cold readings from the script. Specifics on vocal ranges and
available parts can be found on the theater's website, www.Lofte.com.
Questions regarding the show or the audition process may be sent to Artistic
Director Kevin Colbert at LofteDirector@Lofte.com.
New to
town…Erin, Big Dan’s granddaughter is taking the town by storm. She’s such a cutie!
Insert picture of Erin here.
Erin isn’t the only one new to town. Anthony Joe made his appearance last week, too.
The son of Ashley Kronk has many cousins to welcome him home.
Ashley is the daughter of Don and Amanda Kronk.
They have four other children, Hailey, Liberty, Jackson, and Cooper who
were waiting impatiently for Anthony’s arrival.
What a lucky baby!

Erin and Anthony won’t be the newbees for long!
Adrienne and Jerry Stansell are expecting their first baby soon.
Adrienne thinks it should be any day now but the doctor tells her another
month. Even though this is their
first baby together they both have other children who will be ecstatic to
welcome the new addition. This is a
close up of Adrienne’s baby.

Have you noticed the progress on main street?
The city building has been dismantled and the area is being cleaned up.
Soon new concrete will be poured and a new building will be put in place.
It will be nice to have a dry place
to keep all the city equipment. Dan
won’t have to sweep snow off the seat of the tractor in the winter before he
moves snow.

On Earth Day, 2009, Pastors and laity
representing six Cass County churches gathered at Marvin and Ramona Ohlerking's
farm to plant 1/2 mile of potatoes for those in need.
Churches represented were: United
Methodist Churches of, Elmwood, Murdock and Louisville as well as The Christian
(Disciples of Christ) Churches from Louisville, Elmwood and Weeping Water.
The Potato Project was a vision of the Cass
County Clergy Association, concerned about the economic hard times. The
Association prays this will become bigger, with more congregations and ministers
getting on board next year to add more vegetables.
The potatoes will be gathered and
distributed in the Fall along with simple potato recipes.
For
more information about the Cass County Clergy Association or the Potato Project
please contact any of the above mentioned churches.

Sheriff Bill Brueggeman and Officer Wes Tuttle joined the 5th/6th

They all pledged to stay away from drugs and alcohol.
Everyone skated and laughed and played.

ALL
STARS!
The Elmwood-Murdock 6th
graders went through the All Stars program with Mrs. Robin Kuhlman, one of the 6th
grade teachers. All Stars teach the
kids to think through situations and to focus on consequences.
They think about what they want their futures to be like.
They pick out some qualities and characteristics that they want for
themselves. Then they wrote a short
speech about the qualities. Mrs.
Kuhlman video taped it and made it into a movie. Parents were able to buy a copy but we also watched it that
night.

The Jazz Band kicked off the Junior/Senior High School spring concert.
They have spunk! They were
followed up by the boys choir who performed very well at Districts last week.
The judge had one comment for them, “Wow.”
The Junior High also rocked. And
it was easy to see why the Senior High Choir is going to Carnegie Hall.
Mrs. Colbert is an awesome teacher and the kids really respond to her.
Sarah Smith, sophomore, accompanied the choir on the piano.
That is an rarity to find such talent within the choir.
