The 4th Annual Market to Market race passed through Elmwood Saturday.  Not only was Elmwood a stop off point but it was also represented by a local team.  The local team consisted of Kelly Group, Tracy Marshall, Marcie Hauschild, Shannon Josoff, Dana Albino Muntz, Erin Clymer, Heather Bornemeier, and Lisa Baker.  Team supporters were on hand to cheer and offer water and snacks.

The Market To Market Relay is the oldest and largest long distance running relay race in the state of Nebraska and has been a fun and challenging event since 2008. The 2011 course is 78 miles and broken into 20 stages with each runner taking on about three stages. Stages range from about 3 to 5 miles on a mixture of trails, paved roads, gravel roads and highways between Omaha and Lincoln.  The race could take anywhere from 9 hours to 14 hours..depending on the speed of your team.

Circle ME Event in Lincoln has Local Help

Last weekend was a fun time at Circle ME in Lincoln for a couple of local women.  Circle ME is a store that sells cloth diapers, clothing, baby supplies, and items for new mothers.  But it is more than a store.  It offers a support system to pregnant women and families with newborns.  Last Saturday Circle ME hosted a Fall Festival.  Brooke Campbell has been a volunteer there for a few years now and was on hand Saturday to help out.  There were bounce houses, carnival games, and snacks.  There were also vendors with lots of different items.  Sara Reckling, Louisville, had a booth where she was selling her handmade wool diaper covers and felt clothing.   For more information about CircleMe check out their website at www.circleme.me.

Sara started knitting the wool diaper covers for her youngest son as a stress reliever when she was pregnant with her second.  She was surprised at how easy they were to use and care for…and they are waterproof, too!  The felt sweaters she makes are very fashionable with the diaper crowd.  This was her second event at Circle ME.  Both events were very successful for her which encouraged her to host an open house for her new business, The Sleepy Sheep.

At the open house for The Sleepy Sheep Sara will be selling her most popular products wool diaper covers and Lamblegs, leg warmers for babies.  She will also be debuting her new products binky clips and fitted diapers.  For more information about Sara and her products check out her facebook page…search for The Sleepy Sheep.

DON'T DRESS FOR DINNER at the Lofte

The Lofte Community Theatre in Manley announces the opening of its fall farce, "Don't Dress For Dinner," on Friday, October 15.  The fast-paced script by Robin Hawdon sees Bernard carefully preparing a romantic weekend in the country with his mistress.  His wife is off to visit her mother, a gourmet chef has been hired to cater the evening and Bernard's friend will provide the alibi.  What could possibly go wrong?  As is in every scripted farce, the audience is soon witness to a combination of misunderstandings, fibs and impossible situations.  Lofte Artistic Director Kevin Colbert produced this show during Mahoney State Park's winter season several years ago where it still holds the record for highest attendance.

Kevin Colbert both directs and plays the lead in the Lofte production.  The play also stars Shari Hoelker and Doug Rothgeb of Omaha, Renae Koehler of Firth, Kevin Holdorf of Manley and newcomer Toni Santee of Plattsmouth.  Production dates are October 15-16, 21-23 and 27-30.  Thursday through Saturday curtain times are 7:30pm.  Sunday shows are 2pm matinees.  General Admission tickets are $17 and can be purchased either online at wwww.Lofte.com or by calling the box office (402) 234-2553.

The Lofte is holding a special fundraising event in conjunction with this production.  From October 27-30, audience members will have the opportunity to come early and have a dinner theater experience right on stage!  A cordon bleu menu has been specifically designed to match the gourmet meal in "Don't Dress For Dinner."  The cost is $25 in addition to the show ticket and advance reservations are required.  Those who are interested should call the box office with questions.
