CASS COUNTY FAIR 4-H AUCTIONS:
Cass County Fair 4-H Auction Supporters (family, friends, businesses, alumni) are invited to show support for Cass County 4-Hers by attending one of two 4-H auctions held during the Cass County Fair.
- The 4-H cake auction starts at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening August 7, at the open air auditorium on the Cass County fairgrounds. It provides an opportunity to purchase fancy or decorated cakes, pies, and/or specialty breads baked and decorated by 4-H members. The proceeds of this event will be divided between the participating 4-Her and the Cass County 4-H Council. 4-H Council funds raised at this event help sponsor activities for 4-H members throughout the year. Auction supporters are invited to stay for the Fashion Show/Awards program following the auction. A Sneak Peek and Refreshments will be held for everyone at the 4-H Building following this event.
- The 4-H Livestock Auction starts at 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, August 12, in the livestock barn. Livestock judging awards will be presented to the 4-Hers before the auction at 2:45 p.m. The Cass County 4-H Council clerks this premium sale which is held for market animals only. Each exhibitor is allowed to sell one animal of each species as premium only, meaning dollars per head not cents per pound. Exhibitors retaining ownership will only receive the premium from the sale. Exhibitors of shipped animals will receive the premium from the buyer in addition to the sale proceeds from the buyer of the animal.

The Willey Family would like to invite you to participate in the 11th annual Step Up for Down Syndrome Walk on October 6, 2012. This even supports the Down Syndrome Association for Families of Nebraska (DSAF). The monies raised from the Step Up Walk will pay for information for parents and educators, programs for families impacted by Down Syndrome, fun outings for our family, and much more!
How can you help? Many different ways! You can support Ben’s Brigade by walking or donating. You can sign up to do either by going to our team fundraising page by clicking here. Adults are $20 and Kids are $10 and if registered by September 14th you get a free t-shirt with your registration. Students and faculty of Elmwood - Murdock School can register for free by joining the Elmwood Murdock School Team by clicking here. (School team registrations need to enter a coupon code of "school" and do not get a t-shirt so wear school colors.)
The walk is 1 mile and starts at Antelope Park (by 33rd and A streets), but there will be so much more than just the walk! There will be food and fun for the whole family with the String Beans, Der Viener Schlinger, Face Painting and much more.
August 31st is the deadline for the Early Bird Fundraiser. For each $175 we raise by that date, Ben gets a fact poster displayed along the walk route (limit 3). We used some of our previous year’s posters on a float at the Murdock 4th of July parade and won 2nd place for best float. September 14th is the deadline for getting a free t-shirts with your paid registration. So don't wait, register or donate today.
Let's make this walk a successful one!
We appreciate everyone's support.
Thank You!
The Willey Family

Grand Opening Celebration coming in August!
We finally made it up to the Red Cedar Lounge for dinner this week. I'm no culinary critic but I do like to eat so I know a little bit about good food. Millie, my daughter, and Bradly Cunningham, longtime family friend, volunteered at Junior Wheelchair Sports and Recreation Camp this week so this was good opportunity to spend some time with them and see how camp went. We went up to the Red Cedar Lounge and made ourselves at home. As most of you know the Red Cedar Lounge/Josoff's Fitness Center/Social Hall used to be the skating rink that we owned. We sold it to Brad and Shannon Josoff a few years ago and they have turned it into the lounge/fitness center. Everytime I walk in it is like going home but yet different. Since it has been awhile since the kids had been in there they had to explore and see all the changes. The facility is used almost constantly for a variety of things. There was a Vault Denim party going on compliments of Brooke Campbell. An Express Fit class worked out while we pigged out. And people dropped by to pick up a pizza or have a quick drink before heading home.
Vince and I ordered a pizza while Millie and Bradly had hoagies. If you ever had the pizza we used to make at the skating rink you have probably been missing it. We had awesome pizza! Well, the wait is over! Brad and Shannon have come up with a pizza that is comparable or even better than ours! Hot and cheesey, the toppings were yummy and the crust was like homemade, not a frozen pizza crust. The sandwiches were toasted and huge! The great thing is you can customize your order to be whatever you want.
If you haven't made it up to the Red Cedar Lounge yet you should. It's a great place to relax and catch up with friends or have a good dinner. We give it a big thumbs up!
Millie was rethinking her choice...it was huge!
Brad was quite sure he could handle his sandwich and some of our pizza, too.
There was only a couple pieces left when we were done. Joe got to enjoy those.
Teri McClane took advantage of the Vault Denim sale with Brooke Campbell. Teri also participates in the Josoff Fitness Challenge. In the last few months Teri has become even more fit and the work outs have paid off! She was shopping for jeans that are much smaller than before! Congratulations, Teri! You look awesome!!
