The Elmwood Extravaganza, sponsored by the Elmwood Murdock Merchants Association, brought a lot of people into Elmwood last weekend. The day started with pancakes at the firehall. The Boy Scouts helped the firemen out with serving and bussing tables.
Cindy Hovorka and Kris Shrader hosted the Candy Cane Lane event at the old bank building...soon to be the BurrowsTracts Real Estate! EMMA merchants decorated Christmas trees for all to see and there were Christmas cookies and candies for sale. The proceeds go towards the local backpack program.
Brandy Rima, of BB's, specializes in awesome balloons. She made some amazing balloons scultpures for the kids...swords, butterflies, candy canes, Ariel the mermaid, kitties, and a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle!
Santa Claus stopped by to hear the wishes of all the kids. Rosie Offner shared a laugh with Santa and then posed with her sister and brother, Faith and Levi. Luke Ferguson, grandson of Ron and Kim Griffin, wasn't quite sure what to think of Santa
The SOS parents hosted the Turkey Trot down the bike trail. It was such a beautiful day for a run in the country. There were a lot of kids participating along with their parents. It was a good way to get out and work off all the Thanksgiving goodies!
The Starry Knight Parade started with the Boy Scouts followed by the three Grand Marshalls, Eula McLaughin Swartz, Sylvia Stubbendeck, and Lucile Laughlin. Each lady is 95 years old and throughout their lives they contributed greatly to Elmwood. Each had various businesses in town. It was a great thing to honor these ladies and awesome of them to brave the cold to ride in the parade.

Ethan Claymore" Opens Winter Season at Mahoney State Park
Ashland, NE [November 27, 2013] -Together, Mahoney State Park and KBC Productions announce that the Christmas production, "Ethan Claymore," will be playing this month at the Kountze Memorial Theater. Show dates are December 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, and 26-30. All shows begin at 7:30pm except for Sundays which are 2:00pm matinees.
Written by Norm Foster, "Ethan Claymore" is the story of a man who needs to get his life back on track in time to celebrate the season. Ethan can't seem to find any holiday cheer, and what's worse is he's verging on bankruptcy. With the help of his neighbor, a local school teacher, and his brother, Ethan tries to find his Christmas spirit and save his farm. The warmth of a Norman Rockwell painting mixed with just a touch of Seinfeld, Ethan Claymore will be a delight for the whole family this holiday season.
Directed by Samantha Colbert of Lincoln, the play features Doug and Matthew Rothgeb of Omaha, Harold Scott of Lincoln, Brandy Palatas of Papillion, Aaron Spracklin of Elmwood, and Kevin Holdorf of Manley. Apparently someone else thinks it would be great if we could drive up to the mail box to drop off our letters. Unfortunately they took out the railing! I hope no one was hurt in this accident!
