Hitchcock Based, “Wrong Window” Opens at Lofte
The hilarious Hitchcock-inspired farce, “ Wrong Window!” will open on the Lofte Community Theatre’s stage on October 11. The script is written by the successful writing team of Van Zandt and Milmore whose other works include “Love, Sex and the I.R.S.,” and “Suitehearts.”
New York couple Marnie and Jeff think their neighbor has killed his wife. However, the woman’s body soon disappears and the bumbling witnesses sneak into the cross-courtyard apartment to solve the mystery. In all, there are over 30 script references to the works and characters in Alfred Hitchcock films. Can you spot them all?
The production is directed by and stars Kevin Colbert as Jeff. His wife Marnie is played by Brandy Palatas of Papillion. Rounding out the cast are Scott Pope and Scott Nielsen of Eagle, Melinda Mead of Plattsmouth, John Bell and Ken Patry of Omaha, and Jeff Johnston and Ken Snyder of Elmwood. Alyssa DiPaolo of Lincoln gives a stunning performance as the dead body.
Performance dates for “Wrong Window!” are October 11, 12, 17-19 and 24-26. Friday and Saturday curtain times are at 7:30pm. All Sunday performances are 2pm matinees. Tickets are $19 and reservations can be made by calling the box office at 402-234-2553. The Lofte Community Theatre is located just east of Hwy 50 near the town of Manley.

Auditions at Lofte Community Theatre
Manley, NE [October 3, 2014] - Artistic Director Kevin Colbert will be holding open auditions on the Lofte’s main stage for the holiday production, “Christmas Belles.” Auditions will be held on October 20 and 21 at 7pm and will consist of cold readings from the script.
The story calls for 4 men and 7 women. Those planning to audition should bring a smile and a list of possible schedule conflicts. Rehearsals will begin at the first of November and production dates are December 6, 7, 12-14 and 19-21.
Christmas Belles” is the sequel to the Lofte’s season opener, “Dearly Beloved.” In this story, a church Christmas program spins hilariously out of control in true Southern style. The Futurelle Sisters are not exactly in a festive mood. Cranky Frankie is pregnant and weeks overdue with her second set of twins. Twink is in jail for inadvertently burning down half of Fayro, TX and hot-flash-suffering Honey Raye is desperately trying to keep the Christmas program from spiraling into chaos.

Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are helping by making sandwich packs, working concessions, and for staffing the exchange point there. All money goes to the Elmwood Park improvement which just put a new basketball court in the park!
Volunteers are needed to make sandwiches 8-10 am.
Volunteers are also need to direct traffic or doing concessions 10-3.

The Elmwood Murdock Senior High School Marching band placed 2nd at the Harvest of Harmony Parade in Grand Island. Great job, kids! And Mr. Hanson! And everyone who helped this group to be a success! So proud of you!

Bess Streeter Aldrich House to Display EM Students' Artwork
Art students from Elmwood Murdock High School will have their artwork displayed at the Bess Streeter Aldrich House during the month of October.
Art will be on display every Wed, Thu, Sat and Sun from 2-5 and all students with art displayed will get in free.
Stop in and have a tour and see the artwork!

New Basketball Court in the Elmwood Park
The Elmwood Village Board of Trustees has been working on improvements at the Elmwood Park and the first change was installed last week. A strong group of volunteers showed up to unpack the flooring and install it on top of the old court. The basketball hoops will be put up soon.
The Punkin Patch is Open!
Johnny and Carae Oehlerking have opened the Punkin Patch 1 mile west of Highway 1 on Highway 34. Stop by for pumpkins, gourds, and fun times! There are activities for the kids also.

Tribute to John Bruns - Coach - Father - Friend
The football game last Sunday was a tribute to John Bruns who lost his life last spring. John gave selflessly to the community and to the football program at Elmwood Murdock. He taught the young boys not just how to play the game of football but the importance of team, the importance of supporting each other, and the importance of putting the team ahead of yourself. John is greatly missed by the football program and by the whole community. His work here will never be done and many will work hard to carry on just as John did.

Rest In Peace at Last Ashli
We would like to thank everyone who helped raise the funds to purchase the headstone for Ashli Brown's grave. Ashli, a 2011 graduate of Elmwood Murdock, passed away last November. We held a few fundraisers last spring to raise the money for her headstone. The community was very generous and her family was able to purchase a headstone that we know Ashli would have approved of. Ashli would have turned 22 last Sunday. The stone was installed on Friday...a bittersweet birthday gift.
We love you, Ashli, and will always remember your smile, your laugh, and your beautiful heart. So glad to have been part of your dash.
