Holiday Extravaganza 2014
The Holiday Extravaganza in Elmwood is this Saturday, November 29th...better known as the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This event has become a tradition in Elmwood. It is a day full of activities for everyone starting with a pancake feed and ending with a Starry Knight parade and community dance. The event is organized by the Elmwood Murdock Merchants Association (EMMA) whose members are local business groups or interested parties. A lot of time and planning goes into this event and the EMMA newsletter is created by Pat Ervin, Fountain Creek Designworks. The EMMA Newsletter is now available on the EMMA website.

“Christmas Belles” Kicks off Holiday Season at the Lofte

HOLIDAY MAIL for HEROES
Okay, you're busy. It's the holiday season. Ask your friends to each pick up a box of Christmas cards, put on a pot of coffee, get out the cookies, and sit around the table writing out cards for our military personnel. This would be a great thing for your club or organization to do, too. The cards need to be in Lincoln by December 8, so plan to mail them a couple of days before that. Have fun and help brighten our heroes' holiday season!

Every time I walk my dog I notice the trash laying around town and I think, "Someone needs to pick that up." I realized that I am someone. So last weekend I recruited a Partner in Grime, my good friend and walking buddy, Ranelle Rundquist. We set out with the two dogs and a couple of bags. By the end of the walk we filled two bags and cleaned up the town a bit. And we all had a good time doing it, too! Especially the dogs.

My first piece of trash was a baby shoe. Makes me wonder how that got there.

Trash is trash! We dug it out of the leaves.

Beer cans? Seriously? Who does this? Who litters beer cans in peoples' yards?

And cigarette packages?

Done! We left the first bag in a dumpster along the way. Hope the owners didn't mind! Trash is trash, whether it is beer cans, cigarette packages, Gatorade bottles or baby shoes. It doesn't matter who put it there it needs to be picked up if we want our town to look good. So you will see me and my Partner in Grime out again cleaning up the streets for you. And having a blast doing it! Wait..that doesn't mean you should litter to give us something to do...we would rather just walk!!
