We are looking for you!
The Elmwood Public Library is starting a Friends of the Library group and looking for willing volunteers to help with some of our community events. We currently have a Shakespeare Festival in May that we are planning along with other activities throughout the year. We wanted to extend our resources out to you and hope to serve our community better. Anyone can become Friends of the Library regardless of where you live. Please join us for a meeting February 9, 2015 at 7pm at the Elmwood Library if you’re interested in learning more. Also for students looking for service hours this might be a great opportunity. We look forward to seeing you there.

Lexi Bacon and Tucker Oehlerking won the 2015 Geography Bee!! Competition was fierce but these two overcame to beat the crowd with their superior knowledge. Unlike how I win at Trivia Crack by guessing.
More proud parents this week. Leigh and Julie Schmale are super proud of their daughter, Megan for being one of the Volleyball team members who made the Chancellor's List at the University of Nebraska - Omaha.
Every semester, students are selected for inclusion on the Chancellor’s List or Dean’s List at UNO due to their high academic performance. For the Fall 2014 semester, 65 CFAM students were named to the Chancellor’s List and 321 were named to the Dean’s List.
To qualify for the Chancellor's List, students must earn a grade point average of 4.0 for courses taken at UNO during the semester, provided 12 or more semester hours were completed. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a GPAS of 3.5 or better for courses taken at UNO during the semester, provided a minimum of 12 semester hours were completed. Congratulations, Megan!!
The Avoca Quack Off brought over two thousand people to Avoca last weekend despite the poor weather. This happy crew road a bus out for the fun. Several of the girls are friends so I had to snitch their picture. Good times for a great cause! This is a fundraiser for the Avoca Fire Department. It has grown from a few locals to many people coming from all over to have their ducks compete in a race. No ducks are harmed in this fundraiser!
First Major Snowfall for this Season
The kids on East C Street have a great sledding hill and took advantage of a snow day to enjoy some sledding.
There was a bit of snowman fun at the vonRentzell home! Not sure who is cuter here.
Kids weren't the only people out in the snow. Beth Philson was out, too. Probably clearing her walks but she sure looks cold!
