 NEWSLETTER SUBMISSIONS

Did you know that the initial concept of this online town newsletter more than 15 years ago was supposed to be based around READER SUBMISSIONS!
Yup, that's right. Back then it was harder to send in news. NOW, you can just email news and photos to editor@elmwoodnebraska.com It's that simple.

Remember not everyone has Facebook. Really they don't.

The Cass County GOP is proud to announce and host a Nebraska gubernatorial town hall debate on Saturday, November 13. The debate will include three of the five declared candidates: Michael Connely, Brett Lindstrom, and Breland Ridenour. And the possibility of a fourth: Theresa Thibodeau.

This is the first event of its kind for Cass County. Its purpose is to give constituents the opportunity to become better acquainted with the candidates, and for candidates to hear from constituents.

The event is free to the public and will be live-streamed on our website: https://cass4gop.com.

Attached is a press release with further details. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at cass4gop@gmail.com or 402/657-5803.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
November 1, 2021
Cass County GOP to Host Republican Gubernatorial Town Hall Debate on November 13
WEEPING WATER, Nebraska – The Cass County GOP today announced it will host a Republican gubernatorial town hall debate on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 5 to 7 PM at the Cass County Fairgrounds in Weeping Water, Neb., and invites the public to attend.
Three of the five declared Republican gubernatorial candidates – Michael Connely, Brett Lindstrom, and Breland Ridenour – are confirmed participants. Candidates Jim Pillen and Charles Herbster are unable to attend.
Theresa Thibodeau, who is still “strongly considering” entering the race, stated if she decides to declare her candidacy before the debate, she will participate in the event.
“This event is for the people of Nebraska to have the opportunity to meet the candidates and have a real conversation with them,” said Tracy Zeorian, Chairman of the Cass County GOP. “Nebraska and our country are at a crossroads and we need a strong leader who is ready and willing to tackle the big issues head-on.”
The moderated town hall debate format enables candidates to answer questions posed directly from constituents. Anyone is welcome to submit a question, which must be submitted by November 10, 2021, to cass4gop@gmail.com for vetting.
The free event will also be streamed live on www.cass4gop.com.
The 2022 Nebraska gubernatorial primary election, which will decide the Republican Party candidate, will take place on May 10, 2022. The general election will take place on November 8, 2022.

pumpkinrecycling 2021

Louisville resident Sybil Henderson after she delivered her pumpkin

Here are a few photos of our pumpkin recycling event last Tuesday at Plattsmouth Hy-Vee. It was a success for our first try at this event as we collected 74 pumpkins that were diverted from the landfill. We were very surprised that we only collected one Jack-O-lantern.

pumpkinrecycling 2021b

KCCB assistant director, Dana Stahl

We delivered the whole pumpkins to the Wildlife Safari Park where they will be used for animal food.

pumpkinrecycling 2021c As for the other old Jack-O-lanterns around, we hope individuals use them for animal food or compost them in their backyards.

They hope to make it an annual event and possibly have a collection spot somewhere in Western Cass County to serve more residents.
