Get your Pumpkins and Fall Decorations
The Punkin Patch is now open at the Oehlerking Farm located on Highway 34 west of Elmwood. You can't miss it and don't worry about what time to stop by. They are open every day. If no one is there to help. Place your payment in the cans provided. It's based on the honor system and it's the type of community we are.
Last week some local students made a little extra cash by helping unload the flatbeds from the fields and carry them to the pumpkin piles.
Prices are marked on all the pumpkins and there is even a corn pit to play in for the kiddos. Who is kidding? I would jump in too. These are better than ball pits and sandboxes for sure.

Elmwood Clean-Up Days
Our annual Elmwood Clean up days was a roaring success. People in Elmwood take pride in our community and getting rid of the excess is a great way to keep your house, property, and community clean. Thanks to the volunteers and people who helped unload trucks, flatbeds and picked up for people who couldn't do it themselves.

Halloween is Near
How can you tell Halloween season is near? Bits and Pieces breaks out the Halloween costumes and decorations and this year there are THREE racks of costumes! Something for everyone. In fact, you can be something different for every Halloween event if you want.
Pick up some new candy bags, buckets, and even find fall decor for Thanksgiving. Anyone need a turkey platter. I bet they have one.

Ben Sasse Representative Visit
So, I was wrong. It isn't the first and won't be the last. It totally looked like from the flyer that Ben Sasse was coming to Elmwood. It was a MOBILE office with the Director of Eastern Nebraska Constituent serves takes questions and answering concerns.
Seven people attended including Rob Clements our local state legislative representative, who was invaluable in answering state questions on what progress we are making. I wonder if we can have roundtables with Rep. Clements in the future?
Several questions and concerns were addressed including the farmer grain hauling fees to Council Bluffs, Ben Sasse's position on the military budget, taxes, and health care.
Did you notice the dirt work this week? It's the next phase of the park renovations. Phase one was the new playground and just how fantastic is that?!
This next phase is the addition of a large gazebo on the south side of the lawn area. This will give us an opportunity for events, music, arts, a gathering place for people to sit, read, meet and enjoy the outside.
Conversations this past weekend from people were excited about the possibilities to come and excitement for the future.
Do you want to be part of the planning of that future? A park committee is being formed which will meet on a regular basis each month. Ideas such as...
Movies in the park
Arts in the park
Music in the park
Food truck events
Fundraising for additional features
Attract outside special events to draw visitors to Elmwood
We need people with all kinds of talent. If you love Elmwood, love the park, want to be involved or even wish to have your voice and ideas heard email me at email@example.com
The Village Board is considering going to one trash pickup for Elmwood and would like to get your input.
