The String Beans are coming back!!
This will be EPIC!!! For those who don't know who the String Beans are...like my brother...they are not the Wiggles.

Here is the info from their website:
"From pop and country to rap and rock n’ roll, The String Beans perform a wide variety of original, family-friendly songs about all the things kids love: animals, cartoons, food, science, sports and lots more!
Each show is hilarious, inclusive and spontaneous, and each catchy tune is designed to get every audience dancing and singing along!
Since forming in 2004, The String Beans have released 10 albums, appeared on dozens of radio and television programs, and delighted thousands of fans, becoming Nebraska’s favorite entertainers for pre-school through elementary-aged audiences, not to mention parents, teachers, and communities.
The String Beans perform at fairs, festivals, libraries, schools, churches, museums, zoos and more! In their hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska, the “Beans” sold out the Lied Center for Performing Arts and consistently set new attendance records at the Lincoln Children’s Museum’s “Music & Mozzarella” concert series.
The band has also performed for the Governor’s Arts Awards Ceremony and recently completed a tour of the southeast United States with performances in Missouri, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida."
Time for the Good Neighbor Awards
We have a lot of people in the Elmwood-Murdock area who help make our community vibrant, active and a better place to live. If you know one of those people, nominate them to be forever recognized.
This award goes back to 2004 and just take a look at all the good people who have been recognized.

Elmwood #LittleFreePantry
The Little Free Pantry is located between Hufstader Chiropractor, the Elmwood Meat Market, and the Village Hall.

You may not get out as often, but people are still in need of emergency supplies and cupboards are bare in some Elmwood homes.
Earlier this month received an email from a former Elmwood resident, Ralph Parish. He would love to hear how you liked his short story and if you have any memory of Miss Kunz as a teacher.
This will be a multi-part story series, so make sure to come back each week.
Miss Kunz taught First Grade through Third Grade for more years than I could then remember. She taught four of the five Parish children.

Why I Love the Letter g - Part 7
On the wall just above the blackboards the twenty-six letters of the alphabet, wearing light tan on a black background, marched along the wall accompanied by the digits, zero through nine. They were repeated on the side wall but this time in script.
One of the things that puzzled me was the lower case letter “g”. We knew the alphabet and numbers and I would study the letter g and wonder why it had that little line and dot on its forehead as if it had curly hair and why did it set on a squashed “o”.
We didn’t print it that way. We used a small circle on the line, mind you, with a downstroke going below the line and the downstroke had a left hook to complete the letter. Why did this “g” have such an elaborate form? No one prints like that.
Countless times I would study this peculiar letter but I never asked for an explanation. For a long time, the letter ”g“ gave me a wearied felling. I saw it everywhere and it rarely failed to produce the same effect.
The terms, case, and font, had yet to be introduced and I don’t recall having asked any questions. That was a flaw for which I have only myself to blame. That flaw would have more serious consequences some years later.
To be continued...

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men and women in the United States. An estimated 108,000 new cases will be diagnosed each year. Regular colorectal cancer screenings can detect colorectal cancer early when the chances for cure are best.
Because of this, the Sarpy/Cass Health Department is offering free fecal occult blood test (FOBT) home screening kits to both men and women between the ages of 50 and 74 years.
The screening kits are available at the Health Department’s office at 701 Olson Drive, Suite 101, Papillion, Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Call (402) 537-6969 for more information.

There is a lot happening in Cass County. Make sure to check out the newsletters in the other towns for events.
Flowers will be blooming and you might see me hunkered down on the ground in Various location throughout town taking pictures.
I love flowers! I also love photography, and that is an understatement.
Make sure to check out the photography exhibit at the Bess Streeter Aldrich Museum the month of April. Many of my photos are featured in the living room area of the house.
You might even recognize some of the area barns and farms I have photographed over the years.
Please share you spring flowers by sending me an email at editor@elmwoodnebraska.com and I will feature them in the newsletter. I am also looking for community news and events. Is your group having a plant sale? Doing a car wash?

They were dressed to the nines in their formals and the boys were looking snazzy in their rented tuxedos.

Parents lined the red carpet to act as paparazzi and capture the moment.
Both the prom and post prom was held at the Kroc Center in Omaha and the kids and sponsors had access to three pools, several gyms, an indoor soccer field and a game room.
